Uh, I don't know if this always the case. I write smut, and I've had people tell me they masturbated to my fics and it's flattering, but I remember on fanficrants on LJ (which used to be pretty nutty but still) there was this whole rant where someone talked about how DISGUSTED they were when someone mentioned that they jerked off to their smut fic and a bunch of people agreed with them lol.

but I also remember this being a popular opinion about 10 years ago

for me personally, I don't write a lot of smut fic but when I do I think I' prefer comments like "that was hot" to like "here's a detailed description of how I masturbated to this"

I'm okay with friends telling me stuff like that, though. Shrug.
