1. Yes it was pretty bad.
2. Dear god she barely (didn't?) try to hide the scrubbed off HP serial numbers.
3. Alec and Magnus are cute, but I can see Alec as bi because he did seem kind of perplexed/maybe embarrassed and confused by Magnus liking him, and whether this was because Magnus is presented as a gorgeous unicorn of non-humanness, or because Magnus is a guy, who knows.
So... yeah, I have no idea whether the rest of the books touch on Alec's dating history before being with Magnus, but just from one book while I shipped him happily with Magnus, if a female character that wasn't Clary had come along that I liked and they'd had chemistry, I don't think I would have had a problem shipping him with her.
