I see an alfons mucha type slant to this style. Strong outer lines for the focus and strong changes in content, faint coloured lines for detail. The colours are lighter and pastel, shading kept to specific parts of the skin.

You may not like the aesthetics but the artwork is balanced and consistent in the type of style they seem to be going for. The only thing I would have the immediately change or drop is the gradient overlay over the entire picture. But the rest of it has potential as they continue to develop their skills.

Plenty of people would enjoy or find it appealing.
