Okay, so why don't you just read cute het stories? if you don't care about the sex, you could just read romantic stories about genderless creatures and get the same thing.

Never said I didn't read het, but thanks for assuming. Anyway, I also do like slash/femslash that actually deals with what it's like to be gay by gay authors bc I find it relatable. That has nothing to do with sex.

So...you are not the die hard slash fans I am referring to. Diehard slash fans are the ones who will ONLY read slash and call het "disgusting/gross".

Okay, well, I still disagree with you. Sure, I might be fine with het, but I don't see what's wrong with a gay person only wanted to read slash/femslash and not wanting to read het in the same way I can understand how a straight person would only want to read het.

Honestly, I don't understand why you are all so annoying about what people want to read in their spare time. The fact that people never use the term "diehard het fan" is proof that they view same gender stories as some weird kink.

We are talking about people who fetisize gay people in their reading. Which some slash fans do.

Remember when gay marriage was legalized and a bunch of people were saying and making graphics for shit like, 'Now Dean and Castiel can get married!!!!!"

That shit is degrading.

Sure, it's annoying, but I'm also annoyed by the fact that you seem to think all slashers are straight when many are queer themselves. I'm also annoyed that I apparently gained your "approval" when I told you I read het.

In any case, if teenage girls getting overzealous about some dumb ship is the most worrisome thing to you as a gay person, then you're lucky. I think the explosion of femslash and slash on the Internet has done more good than bad. If you think creators don't notice when people react positively to the idea of characters being in a gay relationship, then you're dead wrong. I'm not saying shippers caused Korrasami in the case of LoK, but I doubt the creators would have even considered it if there hadn't been some hype.

I can understand the OP because lipservice/pandering instead of actual representation is annoying, but I think you're painting slash fans too negatively.

maybe because "het stories" = 99% of all films/books/games/etc. so people just aren't interested in seeing it in fic, too?

because being gay is 100% about sex amirite? not like people would want to read about gay relationships for anything else but teh steamy smex XDDDDD;
