Re: Ubreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 2

The first half was really not enjoyable. It felt too much like a response to critiques of the first season and I could tell they didn't quite know how to reset the story. And the entire Titus's-past-life-was-a-geisha thing was just not funny and (not that they could have known this 6 months ago) but badly timed with the GitS news.

But I really loved the second half; the Titus/Mike storyline was moving in a way I didn't expect and I thought the therapy plots were a good way to move the story forward. Also, I really want to know which writer does Carol Kane's throwaway lines (they're so specifically weird that I assume it's just one).

I'm sad we only got one episode of Xanthippe though.

What GiTS thing? I remember something making me wince because of the timing, but I don't think that was it... however, I definitely didn't find it funny, especially as it WAS probably their way of addressing Jacqueline's backstory.

I liked the second half as well. That's when it really hit its stride!

Just referring to the Ghost in the Shell "Why hire Asian actors when we can make white people look Asian!" controversy. It was weird to watch an episode with the thesis statement that you shouldn't protest before seeing something right when there was a good example of when it is good to do that.

Also, there were such solid guest stars this season. I know people were going crazy over Fred Armisen, but since he's in that 30 Rock/SNL universe it wasn't as surprising to see him vs. someone like Joshua Jackson (which made me scream in joy)
