It does make a bit of a difference to the tone. "The path to heaven runs through miles of clouded hell" vs "Through miles of clouded hell, the path to heaven runs". The first one is saying "to get anything good in life you have to go through hell", while the second one sounds more "even if you're going through hell, there'll be something good at the end of it".

Either is still streets better than "The through path miles to of heaven clouded runs hell", though.
