Part of it is likely that Laurel grew as a character. I didn't like her much at all in the first two seasons. But then she matured and got more interesting and I started to like her. I doubt I'm the only one.

I agree with this. In contrast, in Season 3 Felicity seemed to have regressed (crying all the time and worrying "What about Oliver?"), and in Season 4 the writers don't know how to make a stable romance with Oliver interesting (so she will magically overcome paralysis and literally walk out on Oliver just for relationship drama).

Totally agree with this. I spent most of the first couple of seasons complaining a lot about her character (and how perfect her hair always was). Then she got some more interesting storylines and she improved a lot.

On the other hand, I loved Felicity to begin with, but I never understood why people shipped her with Oliver as I could not see it at all. I still like Felicity a lot, but ONLY when Oliver is not around/involved, which isn't too much of the time these days :( They've turned her character into a more conventional love interest when it comes to Oliver and she deserved more than that.
