Being exposed to art and genuinely appreciating art makes you MORE affected by, more appreciative and open-minded about, and more inclined to notice, visually pleasing things, not less.

Being able to appreciate kids' stuff isn't a bad thing, it's kind of REALLY important to understand kids' minds and preferences, an inability and unwillingness of adults to try to see things from kids' points of view is what causes them to churn out so much crap for kids.
