Ohhhhhh man, that was one scene that actually annoyed me quite a bit in the movies, because elves canonically DO get shitfaced and pass out from drinking too much, as in the Hobbit, and it was such a shame we were cheated out of a opportunity for Legolas to finally get to be the butt of a joke and humanized (elf-ized? English is a stupid language). This is a perfect theory.
