Wait, what? WHy do you think they should be extinct. Considering how much we're helping along the extinction, balancing that out a bid shouldn't be a bad thing.

Hideous genetic bottleneck, breeding problems, and the world's worst sense of food selection. The food selection issues are in part due to human impact, but the former two issues aren't, and even when placed in an environment that's food-rich, they still go almost exclusively for the panda equivalent of McDonald's fries.

Great pandas are a total trainwreck of a species, if cute. (Red pandas, on the other hand, are both cute and actually biologically successful.)
