I get annoyed at the lack of creativity, for one thing. I get why they do it - existing intellectual properties means that a lot of the public awareness shovelwork is already done, and you know in advance that the themes and stories resonate with people. But for that reason, it also seems a bit lazy. And there's also a real sense of trying to profit off an existing legacy that someone else made, which seems a bit callous.

I tend to just ignore remakes, but to be honest, the whole Hollywood remake culture irks me, because it just seems intellectually lazy, and profiting off goodwill you didn't create.
