There's a good chance they all have randomized races/genders/sexualities/kintypes and there's a comprehensive list of them in the picture's description.

Someone literally messaged the artist about that, and they went "look, it's not what I had in mind when I drew it, but you interpret it however you want."

...also, I don't know about the people who drew the other pictures, but this one draws in a bunch of different styles (some of them much closer to the original anime). Sometimes you feel like branching out and doing something radically different! No need to jump to "they don't understand How To Art at all" based on not liking one drawing. Or even one style.
