We aren't Amish or Puritans so nobody has the right to be shaming anybody in real life but at the same time, people do need to understand that sleeping around is risky behavior. It makes it much more likely that you'll catch an STD, get/someone pregnant, or be assaulted or hurt in some way. This is true for men and women.

You don't like the word slut, fine. How about the word stupid?

(Anonymous) 2016-04-22 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Fine. As long as you feel the same way about people who smoke, toke, drink semi-regularly, or talk on their cell phones while driving. Also, people who play contact sports, ride motorcycles, or engage in any other activity with a higher-than-normal potential for injury.

Bottom line: a fuck ton of the things people do can be classified as risky and/or stupid behaviors. The only reason to judge the behavior that involves casual sex more harshly is if you have some underlying biases about casual sex.

Also, for the record, if you have sex with three hundred different people and the three hundredth person sexually assaults you, that doesn't make you stupid; it makes the person who assaulted you a sexual predator.

Hear fucking hear.

Yes, but men who are promiscuous risk creating unwanted babies since their only protection is condoms, which is one of the less effective methods of contraception.

I can't begin to imagine how many biological kids Dean has. We know he had a condom break that one time.

Uh, why are you assuming someone who sleeps around regularly isn't being careful and using protection, etc.? Plus, this guy *hunts demons and monsters* - he can kinda take care of himself....

(Anonymous) 2016-04-22 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, casual sex is not the major risk factor in Dean's life...

(Anonymous) 2016-04-22 08:07 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think you can shoot an STI, so hunting monsters wouldn't help him there.

But yeah, chances are he's pretty careful about protection, especially now that he knows about all the angel vessel bloodline bullshit. I think some parts of fandom have decided that him thinking one of his exes' kid might be his means he's not careful, rather than it meaning he's aware that no form of protection is 100% effective 100% of the time, combined with him seeing a little of himself in the kid's behavior.

Exactly. And it's pretty obvious that, up until that point, Dean had never thought about having a kid *at all*, so I think it's safe to say he practiced the safest sex he could.

(The OP mentioned abuse/getting hurt, which was why I said him being a pretty bad-ass hunter kinda negated that.)

(Anonymous) 2016-04-22 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think him being a badass really negates the possibility of being harmed - anyone going after someone with Dean's fitness and bearing is probably someone who preys on vulnerabilities rather than attempting to overpower their victims physically.

Thread OP's still kind of an ass, because the fault for sexual assault lies with the perpetrator, not the victim. But unfortunately, being able to hold your own in a stand-up fight isn't certain protection against sexual predators.

He also had a condom break when he got Lydia pregnant.
