It's sad that this is controversial.

I mean, I'm against killing in general. In a modern situation I wouldn't support someone killing their rapist unless it was immediate self-defense, let the law do their job. However, in this case? Not only is the law not there to protect Crixus from his rapist, she is also literally his slave-owner, and he has every right to violently retaliate. And since she is a rapist, it's hard to feel remotely sorry for her.

The unborn child was innocent.

she wasn't that far along, the fetus probably didn't even have a nervous system yet, don't care.

It's hard to feel remotely sorry for Crixus, either.

At least Lucretia got to go out on her own terms and not like a total bitch.

ayrt

I mean I agree, Crixus was an asshole. He did a lot of murdering and unnecessary cruelty. I didn't feel bad for him or his gf, tbh.

Its hard to feel sorry for someone that has been in slavery from childhood onwards? Really?

(Anonymous) 2016-04-22 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Where was it established he had been a slave in childhood?

I am relatively sure that he tells someone he remembers his family but was to young to fight when the Romans took them. I think it was either in Gods of the Arena or in Vengance, but I don't remember the exact episode.

I feel sorry for him in the sense that he's fucked up probably directly because of his awful circumstances, and he was a slave forced into constant death matches and raped frequently by one of his masters.

But that doesn't make him not a bad person. He is cruel and absolutely delights in killing others, including innocent people. I mean he develops a certain sense of honor and pride with Spartacus but he still is willing to massacre innocent women and children if they are Roman.

I understand where you are coming from. Sorry if I sounded a bit harsh earlier, I do understand disagreeing with some or even most of his actions morally. It's just to me his behavior (and Naevia's too) is such a clear reaction to the things that were done to him and the trauma he received, that I can't not feel sorry for him.

that's how i feel about that too, like i don't agree with some of the stuff that crixus did (or wanted to do) but i get why he wanted to.

There are multiple kinds of pity -- sometimes you feel... intellectually sorry for someone, you understand they went through some bad shit they shouldn't have had to go through and that's part of why they are how they are, but their present behavior is still repulsive enough that you can't feel anything positive about them.

Also not just a slave master, but a slave master who forced him into constant death matches. She's basically guilty of murdering him time and time again, as well - or would be if he hadn't managed to be good enough not to lose.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-23 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
That was her husband.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-23 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
it was definitely her, too. she wasn't some sniveling subservient woman oppressed by the times, she was his partner - business partner, even - and more than enjoyed the prosperity sending slaves to their deaths brought her

(Anonymous) 2016-04-23 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
When did she get involved with what the gladiators did, besides when she looked out for Crixus?

(Anonymous) 2016-04-23 11:03 am (UTC)(link)
And you and the rest of F/S get your jollies seeing those cunts punished. Win/win.

/no, not Radfem anon, before you jump. Just been around here a few years.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-23 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
ok rad!fem

women can do no wrong even when they are murdering rapist slaveowners and when their slave retaliates we should just feel sorry for her instead
