So yeah, it's supporting child porn but just dressing it up in pretend SJW excuses by saying (in grossly incorrect oversimplifications, I might add) "Japan does it so if you're against it you're racist"

yeah, that's exactly it. i don't know why these people want to support someone who basically says it's "ok" for a country to continue their child porn just because it's a different "culture".

AYRT No, that wasn't it. The essay still said child porn was bad, but that it was pointless to try to hold Japan to the same standard as the US rather than approach with a cultural understanding.

For example: my country (Australia) has much stricter child porn laws than the US, including convictions for a guy who had Simpsons porn of Bart and Lisa on his computer (that is, drawn cartoons, not real children). Written fiction about people under 18 having sexual activity is also illegal. The US doesn't agree with those laws, so is the US abusing children by having less strict laws, or should you try to understand US free speech laws in arguing about their child porn laws?

Exactly!
My country has similar laws than Australia, but I don't pretend that any other country HAS to have the same laws.

Child porn is still bad (and I think most people think the same), but when it comes to fictional children there are going to be disagreement and imposing one country's laws into all others is, in fact, far worse than the existence of drawn/written sexual fiction involving fictional children.
