(Anonymous) 2016-04-23 01:33 am (UTC)(link)Not to mention when she showed up again, she immediately started into the same manipulation and control tactics, mocked his attempts to take some control back, and completely ignoring any protestations on his part, using her emotional influence over him to have him do exactly what she wanted, no matter what.
How is it NOT abusive??

(Anonymous) 2016-04-23 02:12 am (UTC)(link)Plus, the way it was framed - Elektra drawing Matt away from his friends, causing Matt to act meek around his friends, intervening in his life where she was not welcome, the whole Foggy 'she hurt you so bad etc etc' conversation. All while Elektra constantly tells Matt who he is in her own words*...
* Constantly telling Matt who he is, is why I only pointed out the first half of the season (roughly speaking). Once Matt 'gives in', it is clearly written as being his 'true self' not just because he is saying it, but because the writers believe it too and are into it; whereas earlier in the season it was more ambiguous and I interpreted Elektra's insistence very negatively.

(Anonymous) 2016-04-23 04:00 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, I know stuff was "explained" later on but none of that explanation excused what she DID to him. I didn't mind her as a character but would have preferred like...a restraining order.
