Re: What critically acclaimed movies have you never been able to get all the way thru?

As a Batman fan, I've always felt really "meh" about that film, even long before the Nolan movies came out, and quietly wondered why people seemed to treat it as such a benchmark (I honestly liked Batman Returns better than Batman). There's nothing I particularly dislike about it, it's just "meh."

When it came out, it was "dark" in contrast to the tv series that most people were familiar with. Believe it or not, but it was actually considered *too* dark and violent. lol
Burton completely revamped the Batman universe with that movie when it came out. Obviously it's very campy by today's standards, but Keaton's Batman was the first brooding, non-goofy Batman on screen. (Keaton was also known as a comedic actor, so it was kinda a big deal.)

But yeah, a lot of firsts. And fyi, even Burton thinks the film is boring, so you're not alone.
