it makes perfect sense, anon! :) though... i have it the other way around, personally! my kinks involve a situation that's rather unpleasant to the person experiencing it and most of the time i feel really bad if it happens to the characters i really care about. (although if a particular fic is especially good i might just 'use' it, while replacing the characters in my head haha..)

That completely makes sense to me. But as much as I love the trust and consent elements of it, I also just find it really, really visually appealing, so I can usually appreciate it even just on that level.

If it were me, I'd just make up stuff about them like a minor character in a fanfic. That way I could play to all the things that appeal to me in a character.

I kinda get that, especially since a lot of porn does have shady background stuff going on concerning consent and stuff.
I've recently fallen in love with Krysta Kaos' stuff at Kink.com, so I've watched a few of their videos, and they always wrap them in these neat little interviews of the dom(me) interviewing the sub before and after, so you can kinda make sure that everything going on is ok. Maybe that could make it easier for you.
On the other hand, I think many women just aren't into visual porn that much, anyway (I'm not, usually), so maybe it's mainly that that's keeping you from liking it.

Nope, not that. I'm really visual and actually prefer visual porn to written porn. Just not with kink. So I get my kink fix from fics and the rest of my porny fixes from visual porn.

My workaround for that is going after drawn rather than photographed porn of my favorite kinks. It's not a fix for everyone, but it works for me.

I can kind of get this. A lot of the porn kink is really harsh. Whereas with fic you can in their head and know they're loving it.

And even the dirtybadwrong stuff isn't happening to real people.

I totally get that. Ever since reading countless ex-pornstars' memoirs where they all admit that the vast, vast majority of girls in porn are a.) high as fuck during scenes to cope, b.) actually, physically abused by their costars (often on-camera, and not just the male costars at that), c.) had safewords ignored, and d.) forced to do PR work about how much fun they have and there's certainly no abuse and anyone who says so is lying and jealous :)))), I haven't really been able to watch real-life porn. :(

At least with fictional stuff, you 100% know for certain how those involved are feeling.

I feel you. I have trouble watching live-action porn because most of the time the women don't even look like they're into it at all... The only stuff that I can really enjoy is real couples on Redtube filming together (where you know they're a couple), or actual prodommes who know what they're doing. I also enjoy submissive men, so that's like 99% of all straight porn out the door for me.

Also, bad acting. Maaaan the bad acting is such a turnoff. It's no fun if they don't have chemistry. It's just so...mechanical.
