Nah. Prince John's motivation was strictly jealousy over his brother. He was a less effective Scar.

Nah, Scar wanted power at all costs, and was pretty happy with himself once he got it, even the the kingdom was falling into shit around him. Prince John wanted power too, but he also wanted to be liked and respected and couldn't cope when he realized that he was neither. Neither one is super deep, but they've both got more complex motivations and backstories than Kylo Ren has gotten so far.
