The ratings on his shows show that fewer and fewer people are enjoying his style.

Ratings are doing quite well. Bouncing time slots and diversified viewing methods impact television transmission numbers, and will continue to do so.

Moffat haters have been saying ratings are down since series 5 and that it is solely the fault of Moffat and that the general audience hates him. It wasn't true then and it isn't true now.

Doesn't matter about us regular Moffat haters, it was the Sherlock Christmas special that got him toasted. Middle Aged and Old Aged folks watched that and they were pissed off, they liked the procedural stuff and that nice boy who solves everything. They ain't got time for that meta-fanboy crap, they wanted a proper Victorian Sherlock Procedural like they were promised! They hit the phones and letters like you would not believe, not just to the Beeb, but to their MPs and anyone else they could think off. Old Auntie doesn't care about us spotty Skiffy fans on DW, but piss off the blue rinse brigade like Moffat did on Sherlock, that gets the BBC moving. It is a demographic they cannot afford to ignore.

Moffat haters always seem to overestimate how many of them there are. Even if more fans disliked that one particular episode, which I'm not sure of, people on average still like his stuff.
