30. LOL, you find out the Comedian dies on, like, the second page of the comic, so I don't think it's that much of a spoiler! He just appears in flashbacks.

I worry that with the movie, we're going to get an influx of craptastic Watchmen fic from people who haven't even read it. :(

I agree. I walked around in a daze after reading it because there was so much to think about. It may sound sad, but seriously, that was how much I was like 'woah".

Once people see the movie, they won't read the comic, simple as. I don't think you can write a fic based solely on the movie becuase the movie will have to leave out a lot of the debate in the novel, or (cringe) they're gonna dumb it down for easier digestion - which fingers crossed they don't do because I'm always optimistic and am still looking forward to watching it.

What I'm REALLY scared about is that people are gonna ship the characters together. I love slash and porn, even the bad stuff if I'm honest...but Watchmen is so not the source material for that.

No, I was the same way. I read it during finals week at uni and all I really wanted to do was reread it and dig deeper into it and have intellectual discussions about Watchmen not Western Civ!

I avoid Alan Moore-universe fic like the plague. Some things should be sacred. But as this is an internet with BIBLE FANFICTION, Watchmen slash and etc is going to pop up like mushroom (clouds) post-film.

The intellectual discussions part - totally. But all my RL friends at the time could only see the 'pictures' so they couldn't take it seriously. Which was WTF. Sigh. Wish I'd had an LJ at the time lol.

The watchmen slash part - noooooooooooooooooo! *flails* I'm even more hideously scared of the fanart becuase that would be like severe acute trauma to my retinas. I'd rather gouge my eyes out.

Yep, Watchmen should be sacred. Nods.
