Is he actually the conservative Christian hero my far right Facebook friends would have me believe? I think last year there were all of these memes going around about how he ~bravely~ was an active Christian in the face of Hollywood godless liberalism.

Without knowing anything about him and despite knowing most of those conservative memes are bullshit, it's made me wary of the guy. (not for being a Christian if he is indeed one but the conservative preachy stuff)

I don't think you can can be ultra conservative these days and get huge box office roles.

Also, I think the idea of what is "ultra conservative" is a bit skewed these days.

He;s said he loves hunting for the visceral thrill of killing things. That sort of stomped on any seed of like I may have had for him as a person.

ew.

I don't mind people hunting for non-trophy reasons - like deer hunting which controls deer populations and people actually eat the deer and such. But anyone who says they are thrilled by killing things is seriously a creep in my book.

He eats what he kills. And being excited about hunting isn't weird. it is a challenge to conquer just like any other.

OL: Hollywood isn't exactly known for its outdoorsmen. Is it ever strange to be into hunting, yet involved in an industry that’s so non-outdoorsy?

Chris Pratt: It’s true that there aren’t a ton of hunters in Hollywood. That being said, the people I’ve talked to about it are actually fascinated with the subject. I think I’ve changed a few minds regarding the sport. It’s pretty incredible how little people actually know about hunting. Most people don’t even realize there are seasons or tags. They don’t understand the regulations or conservation benefits of hunting. I get a lot of, “Well as long as you eat the meat, I don’t care.” I have to be honest with them though. My passion for hunting is not simply the result of a need to feed myself. There’s grocery stores for that! I’m not eating ground hog or coyote! Sometimes people don’t understand and I don’t waste my breath trying to explain it. Either you get it or you don’t. But for the most part people aren’t judgmental about it. We just disagree and move on.

So he isn't out hunting tigers and lions. he is killing animals that need to be population control.

Same. People get really judgey about people who like hunting IMO but yes, enjoying the actual killing part in that way is... D:

I don't get a 'enjoying killing things woo!!' from that interview answer. More just that there's a challenge/thrill to hunting that people who don't hunt/aren't into hunting don't really understand.

People are making it sound like he responded that he loves watching the life drain out of an animal's eyes or something...

I don't hunt myself, but when I've talked to hunters, a lot of the appeal for them seems to be a love of nature. Getting way out, away from the cities and the roads, into the wild, in a way that makes you feel a PART of it. You're participating in predator/prey roles that are as old as life on earth, and engaging with your own natural roots in a way most people never do.

Not my thing, personally, but I can understand it.

They posted the actual interview answer. He didn't say that at all. The anon up-thread is just being and asshole troll.

Don't expect diet poison to read and understand things. That way madness lies.

You're the one who can't read if you missed the "if he actually said that" part of my comment.

I take almost everything concerning celebs with a grain of salt.

Uh, I wasn't expecting anything, dude. I just wanted to point out that someone posted the interview answer in question.

And from what I've seen? she understands things perfectly fine.

YOU however, need to get a fucking life and get over the fact that she didn't agree with you or whatever to YOUR exact specifications.

Yeah that's why I added "if he actually said that", because you can never be sure. Glad to hear it isn't true.
