Autism and heart problems are both pretty bad examples. Autism is horribly represented in the media. It's so often relegated to The Screaming Autistic Child, And The Brave Parents Who Put Up With This Horrible Burden with no view of autism as a spectrum. There's high functioning autistic people, far more than this AutismSpeaks kind of bullshit.

There's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time... the main character from that is high-functioning autistic, and it's been a while, but I liked it a lot when we read it in school.

Will Graham from Hannibal was also described as "on the autistic spectrum", if I recall correctly.

I have Asperger's and I don't know who I resent more, the people who think it doesn't exist or the people who lump me in with The Screaming Autistic Child.
