Eh...without giving it away Riff turns out to have.....major issues. It's all very comfortably familiar fuckery if you're a Kaori Yuki fan. But yeah somewhat vague but important spoiler ahead..............

Riff turns out to be "evil", it's really long and convoluted and I won't get into it here because it involves like...slit personality disorder and general manga suspension of disbelief. The ending is also extremely bittersweet tragic and surprised the hell out of me. Let's just say Riff is what would happen if Sebastian became of two minds about consuming Ciel's soul down the line, and everything went to shit around them.
