I mean, i agree that it has a lot of jokes that are about race, and that the vocabulary and expression of those jokes would be unacceptable today. I agree that it would be regressive if made today. But I don't think the jokes themselves m, or the plot of the movie, is racist. Is it harmful? I don't think so. Is it for everyone? No. But that doesn't mean it's intrinsically evil. So I guess I'm just interested in why you think this isn't the case.

Especially since the racist people were dicks. I mean, come on. It's hanging a lantern on the evils of racism and making us laugh too.

exactly. It was very obvious to me that the movie was mocking the stupidity of racists (one of the scriptwriters was Richard Pryor for fuck's sake.)
