Re: Films that couldn't be made today

The treatment of the black character, the treatment of the women woman. The rape jokes. The sexual objectification. The white savior character. The line "Where are the white women at". That line could make even the greatest film in the world into something that should never be allowed to be seen.

Even in context where the character is playing off the racist conceptions of other characters, which the film recognizes and depicts as racist and wrong?

Oh, It's parody racism. Like how mad men is parody sexism?

No, that's a bullshit argument from garbage people.

With respect if that's your only argument it's not one that I find very compelling.

And no, it's not parody racism. It's a comedy, about racism, where the characters who are racist are clearly wrong and the butt of the jokes. Do you think there shouldn't be any comedy about racism? Because if there is, I'm not sure what a better way to do it is.

There's parody, and then there's commentary. Commentary can coincide with parody, but they're not fundamentally the same thing.

Commentary is the aspect of Blazing Saddles that you appear to have been blind to.

Mad Men wasn't parody sexism. The 1950s and 60s were chock full of full blown sexism, which the show accurately depicted. Things were way worse for women even just 50 years ago.

But I think you really missed the point of Blazing Saddles as a whole.

Oooh, "white savior" was just one move too far. Good troll until you spilled it. Kinda like My Immortal.

The Broken Bird. an old and established trope. He recovers some of his glory, but only through the help of the primary protagonist.

Yeah, I have to say, I literally can't tell whether this person is a troll, or just the absolute epitome of the kind of SJW trolls like to imitate. It's almost impressive really.
