I never shipped Hiei/Kurama back in YYH's heyday and I felt like such an outlier because that seemed to be everyone's top slash pairing. I shipped Hiei/Yusuke.

Nostalgia. I actually shipped Hiei and Yusuke together. But because there wasn't much fanwork there (and mostly because I couldn't break up Keiko and Yusuke in my mind) , I ended up kinda shipping Hiei/Kurama too.
ie: I feel you about the lack of non-hiei/kurama stuff.
