I'm in a similar boat. My fanfic reading had dropped off for years but recently I've gotten way back into it and it's definitely making me more excited for this movie. I've always still loved HP though.

HP is forever the fandom I'll go back to and there's so many amazing fics from years ago and some that are still being written now.

I always hoped she's make a prequel that wasn't about the marauders/Snape/Harry's parents, especially one set in a much earlier time period. And I liked the magical creatures a lot, so this is pretty much exactly what I would have wanted from a prequel.

Yay! I'm excited about it, too. I hope it rekindles interest in writing HP fic.

When I first heard about this, I thought it sounded stupid. But after seeing the trailer, I'm excited. I think it will be awesome because what I liked best about the Harry Potter books/movies was the overall world and the adults. Now we get to see adult wizards doing cool stuff. I think it sounds awesome. I'm hyped.

I never got into Harry Potter. Made my way through the first book and movie or so, but just...not a huge fan, you know? Maybe I was the wrong age, and other life things intervened, etc.

But this movie has me so excited. It has a Jonathon Norrell and Mr. Strange feel to it (more so than the mini series did for me), a "mysterious wizards doing cool stuff" vibe I'm really excited about--and it's not about children. Yay!

The main character looks really cute, too. I'm a sucker for nerdy, cute, cool, magical protags. :D

I'm excited about it because it's a period piece. I LOVE period pieces and the fact that it's a MAGICAL period piece just makes it even better. I would be equally excited about those two factors whether or not it was connected to Harry Potter. But it is nice to have that connection in that I already understand a bit about the universe the movie is set in.
