Re: Source material changes you can't forgive
(Anonymous) 2016-04-29 12:35 am (UTC)(link)makes the Phantom something other than horrifically ugly when unmasked, and/or does not bother giving him/making sure the actor has a beautiful voice. Also, the Phantom was born deformed and travelled the world before settling beneath/helping to buid the Opera; adaptations where he's a child in the basement edge into Beauty and the Beast territory for me.
