Overall, het fandom is larger and het is canon in most anime/manga out there, so I just don't get all the complaining. It's fairly easy to pass yaoi manga by when in the bookstore.

It's true, but I think that people percieve the slash fandom as being bigger than it is. *shrugshrug*

I think people feel that people would jump down their throats, even if they wouldn't~.

That's not my experience! Well, no, I've run across more batshit het fangirls, but most of them weren't batshit in their devotion to their preferred type of ship, but rather batshit for entirely unrelated reasons.

Wow, you're an idiot. For this discussion, we are referring to the types of batshit fangirls who would just down your throat for not liking yaoi, or het, depending on the variety. Therefore, fangirls who are batshit for unrelated reasons need not apply!

Obviously, you haven't run into them. Inuyasha/Kagome fangirls vs. Sesshomaru/Kagome fangirls. The pairing war between Harry/Hermione and Harry/Ginny was especially vicious for year until the final book.

So no, there's a lot het batshit insane fangirls go batshit over their pairings too.

Although I don't feel the way #56 does, I used to. I think the problem is the stupidest people tend to be the loudest, so you get (what feels like) a lot of fangirls going "OMG! YOU DON'T LIKE NARUTO/SASUKE?? HOMOPHOBE!!"

Really probably only a handful of yaoi fangirls, but you only need a handful to sour you to a group of people sadly.
