I always kind of assumed they left Unova to look for N. N makes it back to Unova, so I figure they didn't cross paths at any point. I assumed they were still looking for him and clueless N is non-the-wiser about it.

What makes me this is - why was Ghetsis so sure that they wouldn't come stop his plan? He seemed to expect only N alone.

N's been tracking Ghetsis and trying to find him, and likely he can do a neater job of it than the MC can in finding N. Ghetsis probably knows that. Plus, N wasn't exactly keeping himself hidden, yammering on to the BW2 character as he did.
