Yeah, they've cast Marisa Tomei as the new Aunt May. And while I know it's not as old as other actresses, she is 51?

To me it's not about the actual age. (In Hollywood with expert stylists and loads of plastic surgery, people's ages and how old they look can be vastly off). I just prefer an actor/actress that resembles the character they're playing at least superficially. I can't say I see any resemblance here...

And while they could have pure-hearted motives, it makes me sad to see a part that could go to someone who looks like Aunt May get cast like that, when there's not enough parts for older-older people offered as it is.

While on one hand 51 is not a bad age for a late-teens-early 20s person's aunt (presuming that Aunt May really is the sister of one of Peter's parents), she has a very young face for 51 to my mind, and yes, I did go check Google because that picture in the secret had me unsure that it was a recent one.

I thought that at first too, but honestly, she doesn't actually look like she's that young to me; she looks like she wears a lot of makeup to make herself look younger. I'm sure she'll present very differently when done up as Aunt May.

That said, I'd still rather they cast an older woman for the role because I feel like women "age out" of acting so easily because Hollywood so strongly favorite feminine youth, so I also agree with what OP is saying.
