I thought that was a possible interpretation too, but I wasn't sure if I felt that way because:

1) I was meant to and the ambiguity was purposeful
2) the guy playing Kylo Ren didn't have the acting chops to pull off the "I feel so conflicted" moment
3) shitty writing

So really, I'm still not sure.
