Captain American Civil War Spoiler Thread

Since someone got their Civil War thread deleted for not including a spoiler warning, I figured I would make a general one for the movie. If you've seen it, feel free to share any opinions you have about the film. Love it? Hate it? Ship anything new?

LOVE IT. Have some minor problems, but my hopes were very high.

Actually I do not know who I ship anymore.

I think there needed to be more hugging Bucky lol

Steve/Bucky is still my main ship but, ngl, I got some serious T'Challa/Bucky vibes from the movie so I'll definitely be on the look-out for fic/art

sa

Also, I wasn't a fan of the Sharon/Steve kiss and I'm not saying that as a Steve/Bucky shipper (I mean, I know the difference between canon and fanon). I don't have anything against the pairing itself but there just felt like a lack of build-up before the kiss, like it was kind of shoe horned it because they felt like the film needed more romance. That's a minor issue for me though.

And this is probably a weird opinion but I kind of wish that Steve had died like people have been speculating for a while. I LOVE Steve, but I was waiting for it. I was so ready to cry about it

Same for the kiss.

I suspected that the were going to do Steve/Sharon, but I sort off hoped they'd not make Sharon/Peggy related cause I find it creepy, but they did the replacement goldfish in the WORST possible way, right after the funeral.

I find I liked Sharon more as a person than I did in WS, but I still find the ship awful.

I'm sort of glad Steve did not die (but then again..if that might have meant Bucky!Cap...man I might sell my nonexistent firstborn for it)

I really liked the film overall but I'm SO BITTER that tony and pepper broke up. And it was offscreen! wtf

I can understand that BUT I feel it explains so much about Tony though.

I liked it but it didn't feel like a solo Cap movie to me, more like Avengers 2.5 so I'm really not sure quite how I feel overall yet.

But Black Pather was awesome and I am so ready for his film, I want it now, give it to me now. The Sam+Bucky interactions were great but I needed 200% more than I got, also needed more Sam in general and less Tony thanks. I liked seeing more of Wanda and her powers were so cool and I loved seeing her use them more. I feel so bad for Rhodey at the end but I loved seeing him there and my Tony/Rhodey shipping heart loved their scenes.

I didn't care for Spider-Man at all and felt like the film wasted time introducing him, also the CGI for his suit was awful. I was hoping they'd build up to Steve/Sharon better so it wouldn't come off as weird, but nope, they made it weird. Not happy with the Tomy/Pepper break up and I shall be ignoring that thank you very much.

Idk those are the main things I'm coming up with atm, like I said I did like it but I don't think I loved it and I think TWS was much better as an actual Cap movie.

I'm pissed off they killed a BAMF woman and a black man, while introducing yet more white fucking males.

are you talking about peggy? I love her, but she was like in her mid-nineties. you had to know that she was probably going to die eventually

On the plus side, it's Marvel. No one stays dead forever, except Uncle Ben.

Pretty sure Peggy might stay dead, she was like pushing 100. But knowing Marvel we'll have flashbacks

she was 95-ish and had Alzheimer's...I think she's probably going to stay dead. on the bright side, she had an very full, long life even if her last years were marred by such an awful disease

They have introduced a black supremacist who is witholding the cure for cancer though. That is gotta count for something.

If we are going by comic canon, then technically it is true.

I loved it. IMHO they had a potential clusterfuck at their hands. Thanks to AoU and the studio's decision to use Cap3 as a vehicle for basically everything and everyone else but Cap. And they did waaaaayyyy better than I ever expected. The movie felt utterly fair in a way no other avengers movie felt to me. Yeah it did have some problems and like everyone else I'm not feeling Steve/Sharon at all. Maybe because it's so easy to ignore, I don't know. But tbh I'm really hapy with the movie. My ships are mostly the same as before, but I may understand where Tony/Steve fans are coming from a bit better than before?

Oh and I have a new ship, that I will never ever tell anyone about. But I feel the need to write 100k fic about it.
