But I think that the celebs that people focus on and think are "totally in love" would not be able to. Especially some of the ones that people maintain have like...fake families and such.

(Anonymous) 2016-05-02 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)So what I mean is that it's very unlikely that a lot of the RPF ships are real, and the 'evidence' people cite for it is usually pretty bogus. But that doesn't prove that the people involved AREN'T fucking. It's unlikely that they are, because it's unlikely that any random 2 celebrities are fucking each other, but we don't really know. All the evidence people cite is just a collection of bullshit. The probability is, human beings being what they are, there probably are secret celebrity relationships that we just don't know about. It's just really unlikely that the insane fan speculation actually happens to line up with it.
To give an example - which is admittedly a distinct thing, because it involves issues with sexuality as well as celebrity - but look at the way that Ellen Page has talked about trying to have relationships before she was out. Which is something that she tried to keep secret (obviously) and it, like, worked, to a pretty great extent - it's definitely not like it was all over the gossip mags.
But we just don't have any real way of knowing what's really going on. Except in the case of Taylor Swift being in a relationship with that one actress. That one's definitely real.
