I think it's weirder when people my age (late 20s) are reading them. Mostly because I know her history with fandom.

Well, not everyone would be really familiar with fandom? I didn't even know who Cassie Claire was until someone compared me to her (negatively, I might add.)

Seems to me it'd be easy for someone to see her book as... I dunno, YA fantasy or whatever? I don't read these things -- and pick it up on that basis without any knowledge of the author, whose history is kind of obscure to someone who isn't at least moderately immersed in fandom and over a certain age.

Well I see you as nothing like her.

I guess because I was a teenager when all of that happened with her and it was such a big part of my life and my social circle at the time that I forget people haven't heard about it.

Same. That anyone would buy her books seems completely barmy to me because o her fandom history.
