Exams

My first exam is tomorrow and I am freaking out, even though I have done literally all that I can. I know that I know the individual topics, but I'm not sure if I can connect it all together. And this is the one professor who doesn't put up his past exams to review, so I have no idea what sort of questions he'll ask.

How are you holding up, FS test-takers?

Make sure to get enough rest and don't feel like that's wasting time, because that's proven to help you do better!

Eh, if you know it, you know it, and if you don't, nothing can help you now.

That's what I tell myself.

Best of luck!

Honestly, I just get to the point the day before where either I know or don't so I'll usually just chill out and read a book or watch a movie to distract myself. Go to bed early and get a good night's sleep.

No longer in college, but I've wondered something test-related for a while.

In one of my classes, we sometimes took tests home, but they weren't open book - we were told we couldn't use our notes or anything. We also didn't get a study guide, and for the last test I actually ended up reading the test while I studied. I took it later, but I knew what the questions were going to be.

Was that technically cheating?

I really have to wonder how they enforce a non-open book rule on a take-home test.

Honor system. (So, not really enforceable per se...)

Not going to lie, I'd cheat the hell out of those tests. And I know I'm not alone. Which is probably why I've never had to take one of those.

I had really small classes (from only 4 to a max of ~15), so maybe they figured they could trust all of us? Though usually if we had a take-home exam, it would be open book/notes and "well, good luck using your resources!"

Yes, it was. I'm assuming you weren't supposed to look at the test until you took it (that's how we did take-home exams at my school).

Just trying to breath, study. And forget the fact that I didn't use my time wisely last week to study.

But I am happy this month signifies the end of testing (for now).

Now that I no longer have to worry about math or science tests, tests are the least of my worries. Projects and essays, on the other hand, require planning and the absence of procrastination. Ngh. Why can't I manage my time like a normal person? Yes, brain, you can pull off 100+% on exams with a halfhearted skim of your notes and the reading. Protip: this does not work on projects which allow a month of prep time.
