Eh, six or seven years at this point. Death metal was never really my jam though (unless you count melodic death metal and gothic/death crossovers), honestly.

I was really more into European "classical" metal or alt metal acts which tended to border on the electro/industrial side of things so other than really popular acts I'm not that familiar with the genre/subgenres.

I do like a lot of different subgeneres of metal, don't get me wrong, I've just never found a death metal band that's really done it for me. You know?

I'll admit that 95% of death metal all sounds the same to me and I used to listen to this shit hour by the hour. Still, though... Strapping Young Lad is just amazing. And if you like really, really epic, wall-of-sound prog, you can't go wrong with Devin's other projects, most of which bear his name.

Well, I do love me some prog. Thanks for the rec! I'll have to give it a listen and remember being a dumb twenty-something again lol.

Edit: took to wiki and found out he did guitar work for Front Line Assembly? Well damn, now I'm sold.
