The comments are misleading because someone at Sony has been deleting negative comments except the sexist ones. I've seen YouTube videos commentating on it.

What...why aren't they deleting all the negative comments?

The thoughts I have seen reviewers air is that they suspect it is to encourage the belief that all the hate is solely due to sexism, when it isn't.

Yes. The idea is that they caught on that it's pretty much a terrible movie and are now deleting all legit criticism while leaving the sexist shit because that way, they can blame all the evil sexist people if it's a flop (instead of owning up to the terrible decisions they made with the movie) and if it doesn't flop, they can play the heroes who rose above sexism - reputation-wise, it'd be a win-win situation for them.

That is really bad. As a defender of this movie (I bet I'm THE person sticking up for it here) I think it's a gross mistake to equate the anger at this remake with sexism. The fans are hurt that they'll never get a true sequel. Many movie goers are beyond done with remakes of classic films (and now even non-classics that aren't even 20 years old!) People were upset with this project long before it was announced that it was going to be all female.

I was the same until I saw who was directing and who was starring in the movie. I have confidence that they'll make something good.
