I always imagined it was like fresh orange juice (as in, fresh from the fruit) only sort of slightly crunchy, if that makes sense? Like fresh orange juice with bits of orange left in---not pulp, but the juice bits that make up the segments.

We used to make a "salad" in Girl Scouts called ambrosia. It was chopped apples and Snickers bars mixed up in Cool Whip.

Ambrosia is an actual fruit salad that exists, but it's more li8ke a mixed fruit salad with marshmallow and coconut. Not snickers and apples with cool whip. Which is delish, don't get me wrong, but you were lied to, is what I'm saying.
