For knitting, there are actually two different styles that uses two different hands. Continental and English knitting. You might want to look in to seeing which one you already use and how much difficulty you'd have switching.

Hmm that's a good question. I taught myself from a book, so I'm really not sure what method I use. I'll check it out, thanks.
