Re: I'm not afraid of Trump...

Please point to where I said I was going to vote for Trump. Oh, right. You can't, because I didn't.

Why aren't you going to vote for him, given that you think he's actually very liberal?

1. I don't think he's "very liberal." That's a phrase YOU started tossing around. I just don't think he's actually a moronic nutjob who would follow through on the rhetoric he's currently using to make gains.

2. I like candidates that don't have to "secretly" be anything.

On reread of thread, I can see where not refuting you outright could lead to confusion.

But this idea of "if you think he's liberal why wouldn't you vote for him?" implies a child's understanding of the world.

"He's going to be a very different president" could reasonably construed that he's going to have different political views. In the context of you speaking approvingly of him, and talking about how you're not afraid of him being elected (which I read as saying that he wouldn't be that bad of a president), it's easy to assume that you and he share political views. On F!S, it's reasonable to assume that would mean that you think he has liberal views. However, his stated positions are the opposite of liberal, which means he would be a secret liberal.

I apologize for the chain of assumptions if they were wrong. But I'm now even more mystified of what you think of Trump and why you're talking positively about him.

I don't know where you're reading this font of positivity from, so I don't know to respond. All I can say is the Trump on display is so far, far, far right-wing that if he ends up just being moderate, or even to the right of moderate, that's still very different from the sort of things we're seeing. And I think what we're seeing is him playing to the lowest common denominator of the GOP electorate, because it's sadly a very large group.

And while I may be liberal, I'm not afraid of moderate conservatism. Does that mean I want him in the White House? No. But I don't think a Trump presidency will usher in the end times, either.
