I only just heard of this, and now I'm wondering how the "Bernie or Bust" crowd reconcile their purity politics with this. Bernie cosponsors a bill to dump low-level radioactive waste in a geologically unstable area near s low-income Hispanic community to benefit a company that his wife was a part of while fighting any amendment to the bill that would give the residents of the town recourse to fight back, and when called on it said, point blank, that he didn't care about them because he didn't need their votes. How do people reconcile this with their near-messianic portrayal of Bernie as someone who's unflappably in favor of the poor?
