Latinamerican dub made Once Upon A Time episodes amazing. What the fuck.

Where can I watch these? I can't think of a more entertaining way to learn Spanish.

OT, but question for the Saint Seiya fans - I'm currently watching it (for the first time!), and I want to adjust expectations. I'm currently ~10 episodes in. Does it ever become mindblowing/change tone, or is this level of dramarama and cheesiness what I can expect throughout the first anime?
(I am okay with it staying like this! But I need to make sure I'm in the right mood for it)

Well, yes and no. For me the turning point were the episodes where Shiryu goes to Jamir to have Mu repair the cloths (@ eps 10 and 11); up til that point I wasn't that invested, but something about Mu really made the series click for me. (And began a deep love for Kaneto Shiozawa's voice.) But the series is always going to have the overly dramatic shonen hotblooded fighting thing combined with Heroic Sacrifice and manly weeping over fallen comrades.

Also -- if you do't mind, can I ask what you're watching? if an English dub, there are three different ones (ADV, DiC, and Singapore). DiC dubbed a very heavily-edited version of the series that was shown on US television, and between the edits and the off-kilter characterizations... *shudder*.

(And if you want something less cheesy and less old-school looking, try either the Hades:Sanctuary arc ( 2004) or the Lost Canvas series.)

I'm watching Japanese with extremely shitty subs XD

I'm actually not minding the cheesy and old-school, but I've got to be in the mood for it. Still, I wanted to start from the beginning and work my way up. But I am okay with overly dramatic hotblooded shounens weeping XD

If you have access to Crunchyroll, the subs there aren't bad, actually. (I'm not certain, but I think they might be from the ADV R1 release.) it's only the first 73 episodes, but if you've stuck with it to that point, going back to the shitty subs for the rest of the original series isn't too bad.

(If you're watching a Region 0 set of discs, then I have an idea what you're got, and yikes, those were often incomprehensible (even names were very inconsistently translated, which made it all even MORE confusing! However, those "wackysubs" have my favorite bad subtitle -- "I have learned of your fisting from Seiya!" -- which always makes me cackle.)

CR also has the Hades OVA and Lost Canvas (the latter is my favorite StS so far).

I would watch the Crunchyroll, but it tends to lag for me :/
Luckily for me, my Japanese is reasonable, so the lousy subtitles don't bother me too much...
I'm not sure which version of subs mine is working from. Their beginning may be the Crunchyroll ones - it's quite comprehensible so far, but I have been warned that the quality will probably drop drastically around the 70s XD

yeah, the "Sanctuary" chapter goes to ep 73, and that's what was dubbed by ADV. Episodes 74-99 (the "Asgard" chapter, an anime-only filler arc) and 100-114 ("Poseidon" chapter) complete the original series run.

I love the Latin American dub so much, but I'm biased because that's the version I grew up with. I still know all the lyrics to the dubbed opening.

I've heard nothing but good things about that dub over the years!

(fwiw, crunchyroll and Netflix have StS with English subtitles, if that's of interest/available to you.)

Ikr? The Latin American dub holds surprisingly well! Same with Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon. Old Simpsons too, before they changed the voice actors.

It's not silly at all, I love the Latin American dubs for lots of old anime. I leaned English and Spanish simultaneously, but didn't get to watch much stuff in Spanish until I went on vacation with my family when I was older. I totally binged on Captain Tsubasa/Super Campeones and some other stuff while I was there, lol.
