I recently wrote my first fic in ages, a fairly medium-long one in an apparently popular pairing...I was shocked at how much kudos it got. More than any of my other stories, ever. Like, 70 and still getting one or two a day! The size of fandom and popularity of a pairing apparently do make a difference....
