Oh sure, I could see where someone might be caught off guard for a few seconds, but come on... that singing/dance-off thing goes on for much longer than a couple seconds. What supposedly intelligent villain is going to wait that long at the crucial moment he's been building up to for the whole film? Nobody. Unless the plot requires that the villain be really obtuse at a pivotal moment that's convenient for the heroes.

You'd be surprised, nonny. NO ONE expects the inquisition things like that, no matter how intelligent. Besides, at that moment, Ronan had the power and he knew it. Hell, they knew it. It's why Peter did that, it was desperate and he knew it most likely wasn't gonna work. But it did, because he caught Ronan, who doesn't have ANY kind of a sense of humor or sense of fun, so off guard, that it fucking worked.
