05. We've gone on holiday by mistake! Peter Griffiths will always be Mr Hector from The History Boys to me, though, cos I saw him on Broadway.

As far as REG goes, I have to say that I have no idea who I think he is. He's kind of both the Shalka Doctor and his character from this lovely movie called Jack and Sarah, but as far as I can tell, REG almost always plays variations on the same character (sometimes he's a complete drunk, sometimes he just likes his drink. He always makes OTT and comical efforts to seem dignified and like he knows what he's doing. Etc.), so it doesn't much matter. And as the character he always plays is a great character, that doesn't matter much either.

And I don't know from The History Boys, but... is would-be-rapist!Mr Hector as brain-breaking as I anticipate would-be-rapist!Vernon shall be? *knows half the plot already, woe*

Hmm, I only know REG from Withnail and Shalka. Interesting that you note that.

Err, probably. I saw History Boys before Withnail; I imagine the other direction would be far far worse! You start applying Uncle Monty subtext to a gay teacher at an all boys school= eep. Alan Bennett would not approve.
