I'm not so sure making election day a federal holiday is the best way to go about increase voter participation because even than there are people (and jobs) that still need people to be there. And given that more and more stores are opening on Thanksgiving I can't quite see retail cosing down to let their employees vote. I think extending early voting and making that easier by having more offices open and having longer hours would be a better solution.
