Looking for Recs

(Anonymous) 2016-05-13 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Books, Movies, Games, Comics around a certain genre. I don't know what you'd call it, maybe neo-noir? Something in the style of Hitman, Max Payne, Fahrenheit Indigo Prophecy, Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Something like that. I started replaying the old Max Payne games and those graphics, they just don't hold up.

So like... the kind of noir that's consciously imitating old noir?

I haven't read this, but I've heard Sin City is a lot like that. Altered Carbon might also work if you can accept a certain level of sleaze.

Sin City isn't bad but it's by far not the best Frank Miller has ever done. That honor goes to his early 80s run on Daredevil.

Would LA Noire appeal to your exacting graphical standards?

Ummmm, not QUITE sure if this would work, but possibly Incognegro? Comic about a white-passing black man infiltrating the Klan and trying to save his brother from lynching? It's not quite noir, but it does have some of the edge and feel.
