I think Steve was plenty gay for Bucky. That kiss felt like someone went to the Russo brothers and told them to add a "No homo" scene.

That is absolutely what it felt like. It was super extraneous, super weird, and completely lacking in emotional stakes or energy. Nobody even thought of Sharon the rest of the film. Ridiculous.

It was just weirdly placed after the scenes with her...you know dead aunt that Steve was in love with.

Yeahhhh if the goal was getting me to support the ship in spite of Steve having been in love with Peggy, that was absolutely not the way to go about it.

It was just an oddly placed scene. Take that scene out and the movie is 50% better to me.

no no no, you got it all wrong

the kiss was added in so Bucky and Sam wouldn't beat each other to death in their haste to get into Cap's pants first

the excec meddling really did them all a favour

We can only dream. :(

Though, I loved Bucky and Sam's new friend meets old friend relationship.

I felt that, too, like after WS they specifically went for establishing heterosexuality. See also: conversation about cute redhead.

The redhead scene was fine. Though, I sort of wish they had mentioned to two girls from the first movie. But that may have been a bad memory for them?

I think it would have been fine on it's own, but combined with other things, it seems to be really to establish they're not gay for each other.

Like, this was supposed to be a meaningful memory for them?

I read it more as just a related memory--since they're in Siberia and they rode back in an ice truck. Why? Because Steve spent money (on hot dogs) and so did Bucky (on a redhead). So it's *a* memory, maybe not like "remember this wonderful time?!" It also established that Bucky can remember some details of their youths, though whether because of brain fuckery or because Steve is a jealous lil bestie (lol), he doesn't have the details that Steve does.

It came off weird, though. We already know Bucky and Steve are capable of heterosexual attraction, y'all.

I know its supposed to be related, but given they didn't really get to talk about stuff, that dialogue could have been better used.

Oh man I couldn't agree more. Especially because I want to know how much Bucky remembers, and when!

Plus, we get it. They're straight. :P
